Vantage checks that an agent build for this Mac is staged, that port 9736 is free, and whether this Mac has a tailnet address.
Pick a label and where the agent listens: this Mac's tailnet address, so an observability server elsewhere can reach it, or 127.0.0.1:9736 for this Mac only.
Press Install. macOS asks for an administrator password in its own box on top of Vantage; it goes to macOS, never to Vantage. The agent and its log helper go in as services.
Vantage then pairs with the agent on this Mac by itself and pins its certificate. There is no code to type.
The Done step shows the machine's card. Its first sample takes up to 30 seconds.
Something not working?
The password box never appeared: look for it behind other windows, or press Install again.
Port 9736 is in use: an agent already runs on this Mac. Open Settings > This Mac to update it instead of installing again.
This computer is Linux: this way is for a Mac. Use "A server I can SSH into" and type localhost.
No sample after 30 seconds: the agent may still be starting. If the card stays grey, open Settings > This Mac and check what it says.
