How to set this up

  1. Use this to see every machine your control plane knows, before any has an agent.
  2. For Headscale, run this on the server to make a key that lasts an hour:
    headscale apikeys create --expiration 1h
  3. Paste the address and the key and press Show me what is out there.
  4. A machine without an agent has an Install button.
  5. The key is used once and never stored.

Something not working?

  • Nothing comes back: check the address starts with https:// and the key has not expired.
  • Install says it cannot get in: set up SSH for that machine as on Add machine > SSH.
  • Tailscale.com accounts are added under Cloud accounts or in Add machine > Machines on my tailnet.
