Terms and licence

How to set this up

  1. The licence is the file LICENSE at the top of the Vantage folder, and a copy comes in every release folder. Read it once; it is short.
  2. Vantage is under the Functional Source License, FSL-1.1-ALv2. You may use, copy, change and share it for any purpose except a competing one: offering Vantage, or something that does the same job, to others as a commercial product or service.
  3. Two years after each version comes out, that version is also yours under the Apache License 2.0, without that limit.
  4. Vantage is for businesses. Use it as an adult, for a business or as a professional, on machines you are allowed to manage.
  5. AVYR LABS collects nothing. The app talks only to your own machines, and to github.com for the update check while "Check for updates" is on (Settings > About). There is no Vantage server and no telemetry.
  6. Vantage comes with no warranty: it is provided as it is, and AVYR LABS is not liable for loss that comes from using it, as far as the law allows.
  7. The names Vantage and AVYR LABS and the Prism Aperture mark are trademarks. The licence does not let you use them, except to say where the software came from.
  8. Parts of Vantage are other people's software. Each keeps its own licence, and THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt in each release lists them.

Something not working?

  • You cannot find the licence: it is LICENSE in the source folder and in every release folder, next to SHA256SUMS.
  • You want to use Vantage in a way the licence does not allow, such as selling it as a hosted service: write to AVYR LABS first.
  • You want to know what Vantage sends out: only what you switch on (ntfy, Telegram, email, Ask Claude, cloud import, the update check). Each of those pages says what it sends.
