To invite someone, open Invite someone, pick a role (operator can act on machines, viewer only looks), type their name and your name as they will see it, and press Make an invite.
Copy the invite and send it to them yourself. It runs out by itself. Press Done, I sent it: that only closes the box. The invite stays under Pending invites with its expiry until it is used, revoked or runs out, and Copy again copies it once more.
They open Settings > Team on their own Vantage, paste the invite under Join a team and press Join.
Their request appears under Waiting for your answer. Press Open, read your fingerprint to them (or have them read theirs), and press Accept only if the two match.
To join someone else's team, paste their invite under Join a team.
Something not working?
The invite is lost and Copy again is not offered (this app was closed since): press Make a new one on its row. The old one stops working.
A person is not yet on every machine: the page lists the machines still owed. Press Check again.
A viewer or operator is told "your role does not allow this": that is the machine or the gateway refusing, by design. Ask the owner to change your role. Each refusal is written down on the machine, with your name and role.
A new member sees "waiting for the first snapshot" instead of 0 machines: their app reads the owner's list every 15 seconds until the first one arrives (then every minute), and this page asks the app every 30 seconds, so wait a moment. While someone waits for an answer (a request in front of the owner, a join not accepted yet) the page asks every 5 seconds.
A name is refused with "That name reads the same as ...": a name that reads as the owner's or another member's is refused: choose another. A name with a role in brackets, such as "(owner)", is refused too: use the name alone. A machine can also refuse a name that reads as one of the owner's app labels there; the People list shows it as refused on that machine.
Remove a person at any time from the People list.
A member sees "This is managed by" on owner pages. Only the owner changes those.
